Caption: Anchor chains and anchors lie on a pier at the Quincy Shipbuilding Division of General Dynamics, Quincy Massachusetts, waiting to be loaded, December 1970. The ship uses 1,980 feet of chain for two anchors which weigh 22,500 pounds each. The chain, weighing 70 pounds per link, is colored-coded so crewmen may see quickly how much has been deployed.
