USN 1124993 Living Flag 1967

Living Flag 1967
Title: Living Flag 1967
Caption: The sun blazed down from its early afternoon height as 10,000 Great Lakes Navy men marched onto Chicago's Soldier Field, July 8, and created a unique military formation--the living flag. The massive formation was the highlight of the Mid-America salute to the flag, commemorating the 50th anniversary of a human flag formed on Great Lake's historic Ross Field in 1917. In obtaining the 1967 living flag photograph a remarkable coincidence occurred in that Mr. Phil Mole, brother of Mr. Arthur Mole who shot the 1917 flag, photographed this year's event.
