Title: "DDGX" guided missile destroyer
Caption: Painting by V. Piecyk, 9/81. This design was adopted in mid-1981, and was designated the "DDG-51" class in January 1982. Intended for series production, the first ship of the class was scheduled for construction in F.Y. 1985. The 8500 ton DDG-51 class is intended to compliment the CG-47 class in providing "AEGIS" fleet air defense capability.
