Caption: The Soviet Tanker MAIKOP, constructed on a Liberty Ship Hull, in San Francisco Bay, California, during World War II. MAIKOP was Thomas H. Gallaudet until 1944, a name which she regained 1948. She became successively, AMBERSTAR, ELMIRA, PONTOS and SAMUEL before being wrecked 25 March 1969 on Kuchinoerabu Island, Japan.
