Title: FILIPINAS (Spanish Torpedo Gunboat, 1892-circa 1899)
Caption: Probably photographed in Spanish waters, possibly Bilbao, during 1894 to 1896. The Cruiser ALFONSO XII (1887-1900), visible in the left background, is known to have been stationed at Bilbao at about this time; FILIPINAS was towed to Cuba in mid-1896. The FILIPINAS was never operational due to engineering problems.
