NH 88599 Scuttling of the French Fleet at Toulon

Photo #: NH 88599 Scuttling of the French Fleet at Toulon
Title: Scuttling of the French Fleet at Toulon
Description: 27 November 1942 Destroyer L'Adroit (ex-Epée) sunk off the central waterfront of Toulon Arsenal's Parc a Charbon island in December 1942, shortly after she was scuttled. This view looks eastward, with the destroyer Volta immediately beyond L'Adroit and the destroyer Cassard in the background. The original print was received from the Office of Naval Intelligence. Note that ship identification in the ONI caption is partially incorrect. The ship in the foreground is definitely not Le Hardi, which was sunk further to the west, behind the photographer's vantage point. U.S. Naval History and Heritage Command Photograph.
