Description: Photo #: NH 76012-A USS South Carolina (Battleship # 26) and USS Cyclops (Fuel Ship # 4) Reverse side of the original print for Photo # NH 76012, a photograph of an April 1914 experimental coaling at sea between these two ships. The donor, a seaman in South Carolina when the photograph was taken, commented: it showed that this was possible but a very slow method of refueling. Nothing was heard of the test afterwards.
