Caption: Aircraft operating from a field base in Haiti, 1927. On the right are three Naval aircraft factory/ Curtiss TS-1 fighters; the plane at the extreme right can be seen to be fitted with carrier arresting gear. On the left are two Vought UO-1 two-seater scouts; their propeller spinners have been omitted, giving them a different appearance. Three of these planes are wearing canvas engine covers to protect them from dust. The vehicle in the center foreground seems to be a fuel truck; a lean to serves as a primitive line shack.
