Title: Insignia: USS CAPRICORNUS (AKA-57)
Caption: This emblem, seen here as an embroidered insignia patch, was in use in 1958. In its upper right is the figure of Capricorn, the stellar constellation that is the source of the ship's name. The three stars in the lower left represent the CAPRICORNUS' three major engagements in World War II. Both main symbols are divided by red, white, and blue stripes, symbolizing the nation. An original painted design of the emblem is filed with the image.
