Description: (American freighter, 1917) This freighter was completed at Detroit, Michigan, in November 1917. In this photo she is still wearing the War name originally assigned by the British, for whom the ship was being built until the U. S. Shipping Board requisitioned her in August 1917. This ship was in commission as USS Lake Forest (ID # 2991) from January 1918 to March 1919. U.S. Naval History and Heritage Command Photograph.
