Title: Wilkinson John
Caption: Lieutenant Commander John Wilkinson, C.S.N. who commanded CSS Chameleon when she ran The Blockade of Fort Fisher, 24 December 1864, and took her to Bermuda to obtain provisions. Upon his return he was unable to enter a Southern Port, so he sailed her to England; arriving their 9 April 1865. turned the vessel over to CDR. J.D. Bulloch, The Confederate Navy agent there. He was appointed to U.S. Navy, December 1837 and was dismissed 20 April 1861.
