Caption: USS JARVIS (DD-38) in drydock at Brest, France after being patched and filled in with concrete so that she could proceed to Birkenhead, England for permanent repairs. These temporary repairs were the work of the repair gang from USS PROMETHEUS (AR-3), which was station ship at Brest. The JARVIS was damaged in a collision with USS BENHAM (DD-49) off the French coast on July 22, 1918. Her repairs were completed the following September.
