Title: Storming of Stony Point, New York
Caption: Anthony Wayne's coup de main. On 1 June 1779, a British expedition occupied Stony Point and Verplancks Point, New York, without firing a shot. On 28 June, Washington directed Anthony Wayne to retake the position. On 16 July American forces under Wayne attacked and secured the surrender of the British forces at Stony Point.
