Caption: View of a building afire in Taku, near Tientsin, as a result of Japanese Naval Bombardment in retaliation for a previous Chinese shelling of Japanese warships, shelled Taku, on the seacoast east of Tientsin in North China, in retaliation for Chinese firing upon the vessels. Much of Taku was reduced to a smoking ruins.
