Caption: The death mask of Admiral Sampson, photographed circa 1902. The photograph of the mask, done by sculptor E. Garet of Washington, appeared in the Washington "Star," probably on 20 May 1902. The original cast, once in the possession of Captain French E. Chadwick, under whose direction it was executed, was to have been presented to the National Museum.
