Caption: Soldiers' Monument located in the Northeast corner of the Trinity Churchyard in the City of New York. It was erected by the vestry as the outcome of a meeting of citizens, in 1852, who wished honor done to the memory of "Heroic men who sacrificed their lives in achieving the independence of the United States, many of whom died while in captivity in the old sugar house (on Liberty Street) and were interred in Trinity Churchyard." New York City, New York, October 1957.
