Title: Scuttling of the French Fleet at Toulon
Description: 27 November 1942 Destroyers Foudroyant (upright in the foreground) and Le Hardi (listing to port beyond Doudroyant) sunk off the southwestern waterfront of Parc a Charbon island, soon after they were scuttled. Beyond them, still afloat, is the incomplete destroyer Bison. Note their 130mm twin gun mountings, with those of Bison lacking their gun barrels. Foudroyant and Bison were originally named Fleuret and Le Flibustier respectively. The original print was received from the Office of Naval Intelligence.
