Caption: Mrs. Archibald McNeil, Jr. christened the S-16, largest submarine built in the U.S., with a cruising radius sufficient to go to Japan and back without refueling. At the Lake Torpedo Boat Company, Bridgeport, Connecticut, 24 December 1919. S-16 was in commission from 1920 to 1945.
