Caption: Hull built by Brown & Bell, New York; Engines by Novelty Iron Works. Ex-AGUILA (EAGLE), renamed while building. Her sister REGENTE (Ex LEON) was renamed ALVARO DE BAZAN in 1844 and served to 1871. Both were built for service in Cuba. Copy of Lithograph by Endicott. Courtesy Commander Charles Moran, USNRF. This was not the EAGLE that became USS RHODE ISLAND in 1861.
