Caption: Parade grounds and quarters nos. 1 and 2, built in 1886-1887. These buildings are each 54 feet long, 25 feet wide, 30 feet high to ridge and entirely surrounded by galleries 10 feet wide, the total length being 476 feet. Air space of 4 feet under floor was left open to prevailing winds. The small frame house to the right is the scale house for weighing coal and is outside the marine enclosure.
