Caption: Engravings done by Charles Saint-Memin, a Frenchman, who traced the profile of a sitter on pink paper with black crayon, reduced this by use of pantograph, then engraved with graver and roulette. One collection is held in the Corcoran Gallery; another in the Library of Congress. Portrait subjects, from top left: General Benjamin Smith; Dr. Alexander Baron; King Miles; John Moncreif; Nathaniel Heyward, Jr.; Neil Mac-Neal; Hugh Nelson; Destouches; Captain Mac-Neal; John G. Barnwell; John Dawson; and Thomas Cochran. Portraits from 1808-1809.
