Caption: Three pilots stand by the squadron scoreboard at an advanced south Pacific base, circa 1943-44. Two pilots wear green flight suits (standard HBT work coveralls) and one is dressed in a khaki flight suit. Note their side arms: one revolver and two .45 automatics. As VMSB-232, this unit was active in the Guadalcanal Campaign in August -October 1942. It was redesignated as VMTB-232 in 1943 and was active in the Solomons and Admiralties in 1943-44.
