Caption: Agat Cemetery, Guam. Cox. Mike F. Venute, USN, stands beside the cemetery bell, 30 May 1945. Taken from a Christian Church by the Japanese for use as an air raid warning bell, it was recaptured by the first provisional marine brigade and dedicated as a memorial to those who died in the Liberation of Guam. Plaque with the bell is dated 21 August 1944 and is signed by Brigadier General Lemuel C. Shepherd Jr. , USMC.
