Title: Capture of German Submarine U-505
Description: 4 June 1944 U-505 crewmen climb a jacob's ladder to come aboard USS Guadalcanal (CVE-60), after their rescue from the Atlantic. With them is the body of U-505's only casualty, killed by strafing when he attempted to man a gun on the U-boat before it was abandoned. Official U.S. Navy Photograph, now in the collections of the National Archives.
