S-082-B(2).03 USS Oklahoma Salvage Testing

S-082-B(2).03 USS Oklahoma Salvage Testing
Description: Engineering test performed in advance of the salvage of USS Oklahoma (BB-37), sunk during the Pearl Harbor attack. This test examined the effects of rotating the ship on the mud floor of the harbor. The concrete block at left was a 1/16 scale model of the Oklahoma's hull, slowly rotated from the capsized position to the upright position. The wave of mud pushed from left to right in the photo was the result of the hull rotation.
