Two scrapbooks plus three folders of loose prints (approximately 660 photographs total) related to donor Arnold M. Recht’s service as a Navy aerographer from 1940-1960. Scrapbooks disassembled due to mold. Locations include Marcus Island (showing typhoon damage), Washington, D.C., Palau, India, Norfolk, NAS Memphis, Japan, Korea, Cuba, Italy, Spain, NAS Hutchinson, Puerto Rico, Fleet Weather Center Miami, Frobisher Bay, Honolulu, Munda, Tahiti, Oregon, Koror, NAS Lakehurst, Ulithi Atoll, China (Shanghai and Hong Kong), Guam. Scenes include island natives and locations, sailors on liberty in many foreign nations, off duty sailors at military bases, aerographers at work ashore and on board ships. Ships include: USS Okanogan (APA-220), USS Roanoke (CL-145), USS Missouri (BB-63), USNS Upshur (T-AP-198), LST-443, USS Repose (AH-16) Booklets “Yanks Magic Carpet” and USNS Upshur “The Ship I Served In” transferred to Navy Department Library.
