Caption: Contours of pressure illustrating the emanating pressure wave and bottom reflection from the explosion from H. L. Hunley's torpedo that sank USS Housatonic. Simulations determined it was not this initial wave, but the subsequent bubble jet that would have had the power penetrate Housatonic's hull. Neither phase of the explosion was severe enough, however, to have significantly impacted Hunley. Provided by Dr. Ken Nahshon, NSWCCD.
