LST-648

LST-648 was laid down on 7 July 1944 at Seneca, III., by the Chicago Bridge & Iron Co.; launched on 3 October 1944; sponsored by Mrs. Edith V. Vosburgh; and commissioned on 21 October 1944.

During World War II, LST-648 was assigned to the Asiatic-Pacific theater and participated in the assault and occupation of Iwo Jima in February 1945. Following the war, she performed occupation duty in the Far East until early February 1947. The ship was decommissioned on 14 February 1947 and struck from the Navy list on 25 February that same year and transferred to the United States Army.

LST-648 earned one battle star for World War II service.
