41st American President

After flight training, Bush was assigned to Torpedo Squadron (VT-51), based on USS San Jacinto (CVL-30) in spring 1944. San Jacinto was part of a task force that participated in operations in the Marianas in June 1944. Throughout 1944, Bush flew 58 combat missions. He is a recipient of the Distinguished Flying Cross. The Nimitz-class aircraft carrier George H. W. Bush (CVN-77) is named for the 41st President. Read his biography.
