Caption: Under attack by USS CARD (CVE-11) aircraft North of the Azores after pilot Lieutenant Junior Grade R.L. Stearns found four U-boats replenishing on the surface on 4 October 1943. U-460 (Type XIV) and U-422 (Type VIIC) were sunk by CARD aircraft. U-264 and U-455 (both type VIIC) escaped.
