Title: USS WILMINGTON (PG-8)
Caption: Passing the village of Sao (or San) Francisco, Brazil, located on the Branco River which is a major tributary of the Negro River which junctions with the Amazon River. This village is about 1200 miles from the mouth of the Amazon. The ship was on a two month exploratory cruise of the Amazon River, March through May 1899.
