Caption: Native stevedores off-loading rubber at Ciudad Bolivar, Venezuela Harbor during the time USS WILMINGTON (PG-8) visited the village during her exploratory cruise of the Orinoco River, January 1899. This was the most inland point reached by the ship. The river was unnavigable for ships shortly beyond this village.
