Marion

(SwStr: t. 258)

Marion was built at Charleston, S.C., in 1850, and passed to Confederate control in 1861. She helped lay the obstructions around Charleston, S.C., and was used by the Confederate army as a transport and cargo ship in that area.

Marion sank accidentally on the night of 6 April 1863 in the Ashley River after drifting from her moorings off Charleston.
