Launch No. 6

Launch No. 6, Acting Master Fairbanks in command, was a ship of the Confederate States River Defense Force assigned to the lower Mississippi. She was charged by General Duncan, CSA, with keeping fires lighted on the bank of the river below Fort St. Philip on 22-23 April 1862, and with maintaining a vigilant lookout for the Federal fleet under Farragut. Launch No. 6 was lost in the defense of Forts St. Philip and Jackson on 24 April 1862.
