Kaskaskia

(SwStr: t. 49)

Kaskaskia, built in 1859 at Cincinnati, Ohio, was used by the Confederates as a tow boat and troop transport in the White River and Little Red River area. On 14 August 1863 USS Cricket captured Kaskaskia and the steamer Tom Sugg, the only means of river transportation remaining to the Confederates in that vicinity. She was then placed in Federal service.
