The Navy retained the name carried by this craft at the time of her acquisition. 

(S. P. 727: length 20'; beam 5'6"; draft 1'8"; speed 40 miles per hour)

Seven -- a motorboat built in 1917 by D. R. Shackford, Norfolk, Va. -- was acquired by the Navy from her builder on 29 June 1917. 

Employed as a rescue boat for student aviators in the Hampton Roads, Va., area, Seven was eventually found unsuitable for further use, was stricken from the Navy Register on 2 November 1918, and ordered destroyed.
