Title: Riverine Force
Caption: The monitor (M-92-2), "battleship of the U.S. Navy's River Assault Force," fires 40mm shells into an enemy position during a recent operation in the Mekong Delta. Monitors such as this one participated heavily in a recent combined River Assault Force and U.S. Army 9th Division battle against a large enemy force along the Rach Nut River south of Saigon. The monitor is also armed with 50 caliber machine guns. Received by Naval Photo Center in May 1967.
