NH 73520 Philippine Invasion, 1941-1942.

Philippine Invasion, 1941-1942.
Title: Philippine Invasion, 1941-1942.
Caption: Feet of a Japanese soldier, dusty from operations on Bataan, 1942. Copied from the Japanese book: "Philippine Expeditionary Force," by Gasei, published in 1943. Original Japanese caption: "While the fighting on Bataan Peninsula, with Mt. Nativ as the pivot, was coming to an end, reconstruction in Manila went on with greater enthusiasm. By no means was the fighting over, for there was a close relationship between it and the reconstruction. The soldiers' shoes, which were muddy in China, are in this dry season covered with dust and appear to have been boiled and left wrinkled. They point incessantly towards the battlefields of Mt. Summit and the Mariveles Mountains."
