Caption: This insignia was received by the Naval History Division in 1962. Its motto, translated "where the fleet goes, we've been," indicates the mission of the mine force. The silver naval coronet on the shield symbolizes the mine force, commanded by an admiral. The theme of "wooden ships and iron men" is represented by the knight and the wooden ship under full sail. The explosive force of the mine is suggested by the outline of the water. The anchor flukes are symbolic of Maritime functions.
