Caption: Port Au Prince, Haiti. Revolutionary Leader, General M. Codio, being taken to prison by U.S. Marine Guards to serve fifteen years at hard labor, March 1916. The original postcard photo contained the following penciled note, presumably written by a Marine of the Haiti Occupation Force: "This hombre is the cause of most our trouble. He won't be for awhile now that he is in "durance vile"??). He pleaded to be shot when they were taking him to prison."
