This view, taken from the southward, depicts Warren's flagship, HMS FLORA (36), engaging LA POMONE (44) and L'ENGAGEANTE (36), while being raked by LA RESOLUE (36). Astern, HMS ARETHUSA (38) has fallen in with LA BABET (22) whose foremast is falling. The rest of the British force is still coming up. All the French ships but LA RESOLUE were taken in this sharp action in the western English Channel.
