Title: Captain John Barry's Oriental Lowestoft Punch Bowl, c. 1790
Caption: Deep flaring bowl with straight collar foot, decorated on the interior with a full-rigged ship, very likely the ASIA. The inside edge is banded with frets, scrolls, hanging baskets, and flowers, all painted in aubergine, rouge de fer, green, and gold. The exterior is decorated with scenes depicting some of the Thirteen Factories, including the American hong with a flag flying from its broad terrace, on the banks of the Pearl River at Canton, with numerous figures, pavilions, pagodas, and many colorful junks and sampans. Repaired and riveted, diameter 14"
