Title: Musket, French Flintlock
Caption: French Charleville flintlock musket, model of 1774, so marked on barrel tang. La Fayette brought some hundreds of this model over to the US during the war to supplement larger shipments of earlier French models, this being the latest model. This one was used by Maryland troops at some point, as "Maryland" is deeply incised in left side of stock in front of trigger. Smoothbore, .69 cal., overall length in 59.9", weight is 9.4 pounds. All iron furniture of standard French military pattern.
