On December 7, 1941, the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor, Oahu, Hawaii, changing the course of events and bringing the United States into World War II.    MU1 Kevin C. McDonald, PhD, Archivist of the Navy Music Program, Navy Band, Washington Navy Yard, Washington, D.C. presents the history of U.S. Navy Unit Band 22, battle of the Navy Bands prior to the attack, and how Navy Bands were also succumbed to the attacks on USS Arizona (BB-39) and Pearl Harbor by the Japanese on that fateful day.

Collections Manager Wesley Schwenk later discusses Pearl Harbor artifacts in the museum’s collection, specifically the bugle that was found after the attack.  The bugle, which could have been from USS Arizona (BB-39), USS California (BB-44) or USS Shaw (DD-373), was on display in the museum from the late 1980s to 2023.
