LC-Lot-9437-9:  Philippine Invasion, 1941-42.  Hero Killed By Japanese As He Parachuted To Earth.  Lieutenant Marshall J. Anderson, U.S. Army Air Force, was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross for distinguished gallantry in action and shooting down two Japanese planes during an aerial battle over the Philippines.  Later, the Lieutenant was killed by a Japanese flier while he was hanging from a parachute after bailing out of his crippled plane on January 19, 1942.
