Returning veterans of the Pacific fill the hangar deck of USS Enterprise (CV 6) as it stopped in Pearl Harbor preparatory to moving to the United States.  This is how the carrier looks at night when some of the 1,200 enlisted passengers prepare for bed, September 1945.  Official U.S. Navy photograph, now in the collections of the National Archives.
