208-PU-52-P-2: Surrender of Germany, May 1945. Hitler’s Successor. Succeeding Adolf Hitler is Grand Admiral Karl Doenitz, Commander of the German Navy. Doenitz, himself, announced the death of Hitler, and said that the Fuehrer had appointed him to lead the German nation, May 1, 1945.
