This section focuses on year-by-year attacks on German ships and U-boats while on war patrols in the Atlantic Ocean.  

Image:  80-G-205263:  Allied air attack on Type VIIC German submarine U-642, lat 39 long 13W on July 10, 1943.   The aircraft was piloted by Captain Jarnagin, Second Air Squadron.  U-642 was sunk on July 5, 1944 at Missiessy Dock No.2 at Toulon, France, during a USAAF air raid.  Official U.S. Navy Photograph, now in the collections of the National Archives.
