80-G-384159: Battle of Leyte Gulf, 24-26 October 1944. USS White Plains (CVE-66) after suicide dive by Japanese “Zeke.” Smoke from explosion still present. White Plains served with Task Group 77.4 during the battle and was assigned to Taffy 3, led by Rear Admiral C.A.F. Sprague. Official U.S. Navy Photograph, now in the collections of the National Archives. (2015/3/4/2015).
