80-G-320287: Surrender of German U-boats, WWII.  U-249 surrendering on May 9, 1945.   U-249 was the first U-boat to surrender after Germany’s surrender.   The submarine surrendered to a PB4Y-1 “Liberator” from FAW-7 off Scilly Islands.  Official U.S. Navy photograph, now in the collections of the National Archives.  (2017/07/18).
